Important information that you should know
about Log Cabins sold in the UK and
abroad:
Nearly all Log cabin companies’ import from
Europe and a lot of these cabins suffer from the same problems,
drafts and leaking windows are always problems that arise after a
fairly short amount of time after weather changes occur, filler and
finger joints when used in walls, roof and floor will weaken the
cabins structure. (Read more in the bullet points
below)
We are amongst a small group of companies that
have come together to iron out all of the existing problems that
have plagued the UK log cabin industry for years. You see the log
cabins that are sold in the UK have always been inferior to the
one’s that are sold within Europe and Canada! Why? Well for the sake of keeping
costs down many UK companies cut down on quality, they believed
that because our climate isn’t as harsh as Europe and Canada that
inferior windows wouldn’t really make a difference but they were
wrong! UK customers don’t want to suffer drafts, neither do they
want the heavy rain that keeps hammering our country seeping
through there windows or doors and because of this we decided to go
about improving our Log Cabins to the highest standard in the
industry.
We do not have any filler in any of our Cabins,
How?
1.
We just
use better cuts of wood which are thoroughly checked by our
mill before use. Scrap wood should be used to heat homes not
to build cabins!
We do not use any finger joints in any of our
cabin structures, why?
2.
We say
why join scrap bits of wood together when you can use
naturally long lengths that don’t look like a patch work
quilt, stain more effectively and the grain runs fluently
across the whole length which doesn’t come unstuck in direct
sunlight and cuts down on our carbon foot print because we
are not adding glues to our wood or repeatedly running each
piece of wood through electric eating joining machinery. (In
our opinion natural lengths of wood win hands
down)
What makes our windows & doors so much better
than the rest?
3.
Our
28mm cabins all have quality single glazing with weather proof
seals.
4.
34mm
Cabins have quality double glazing with weatherproof
seals.
5.
44mm,
70mm, 90mm & all Twin skins all have Double Glazed tilt & turn
windows, with weather proof seals and 5 point locking
systems.
CAUTION!!!!
If you are
considering a cabin from any company then you should ask what
window system they use and if the answer is different to the above
then act with caution, as they are more than likely still using the
widely used window & door design which still have problems, be
especially cautious when buying a thicker log cabin from 44mm
upwards, you should be buying a cabin that you would feel happy to
sleep in and therefore compromising on things like window quality
would be a decision that may come back to haunt you later
